At the end of one of the most traumatic working years ever, and a difficult year for all of us personally; I’d like to take a moment of your time to talk about next year.
The News Journal and the Sherwood have managed to weather the storm, we even managed a soft launch of the Newark News Journal. Throughout the trials and tribulations of 2020 there has still been so much good news and we were determined to continue bringing that news to our readers. We were only able to continue because of those advertisers that were still able to support us.
Obviously, we understand that advertising has not been top of your priority list, we’ve all been focussed on keeping ourselves and others in employment and safe. We are currently working on our January 2021 issue, a year that will hopefully herald better times for all of us. Just like everyone else our customers support is crucial to us, and we hope that as things improve you might once again consider advertising your business in the News Journal & the Sherwood. During the first week on the month over 1200 papers were picked up in Sainsbury’s alone! The papers are now available in all the local major supermarkets, ask yourself – is this my target audience, I’m betting the answer is yes.
Henry Ford said, “A man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops a clock to save time.” It’s as true today as it was then. Most of us at the NJ have been in this business for around 40 years and the most solid bit of advice I’d give anyone considering advertising is to go smaller and often. A full page in a paper is great, readers may not need your service when they see your advert – but they need to remember you when they do! That’s how good advertising works – because your advert is generally in the same place all the time. News Journal publications still reach more people than any other local media.
Today this needs to be supported by a full digital package, which the News Journal gives you included in the cost of your advertising, you won’t find this anywhere else. The full editions of the papers can always be viewed foc from our website www.news-journal.co.uk from the past editions tab. The current issue can also be viewed from our FaceBook pages your advert is also shared on our social media and website. You also receive a tower advert and a banner on our website which backlinks to your website or your preferred place. Your banner also appears on a rotational basis on our weekly newsletter. We’re always happy to run a targeted Facebook campaign for you for anything special.
If you’d like to consider kicking your company’s year off with advertising in the NJ, January until – March, then we’d like to give you that half price. For example, an advert measuring 10cms high x 6.3cms wide costs £80 per month normally - if you book Jan to March 2021 - you will pay just £40 per month. Book for 6 months, we’ll take an extra 10% off the cost - £36 per month, book for 12 months we’ll take a further 20% of the cost - £32 per month. If you look at our Alpha ad section, inside back page, designed for smaller longer running ads, it’s even more cost effective. These ads cost as little as £3 per month for 3 lines, to the largest ad 6cms high x 6.3cms wide at £36. We will also discount a full display ad in the alpha ad section to half price for series booking – which means that a 6 x 2 advert for Jan -March will cost you just £18 per month.
For the January edition ads should be booked in by Monday 21st December at the latest and copy to us latest by Thursday 17th December. We can design your artwork if needed and if you’re booking series your ad copy can be changed as often as necessary, it doesn’t need to be the same ad every month.
